The Socio- Legal Research and Education Foundation (SLREF) is an independent, non-profit organisation based in New Delhi. SLREF is a trust registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. SLREF was established with the primary objective of conducting law and policy research on various aspects of socio-legal problems in the society with emphasis on environment and forests.

SLREF also carries out academic research on law, policies and institutions related to environment and natural resources. The underlying objective is to promote wide dissemination of knowledge among stakeholders so as to work towards conservation and sustainable use of the environment and natural resources.

Soci-Legal Research and Education Foundation primarily works on following objectives.
1. Legal research oriented actions to strengthen the existing laws on social and environmental issues.
2. To devise and implement research oriented action plan with reference to emerging socio- legal problems arising out of onslaught of ever expanding globalization,    commercialization and consumerism.
3. Undertaking field-based studies regarding the socio economic & political issues with special reference to environment and wildlife.
4. To provide logistical support to the government agencies involved in protection and preservation of environment and wildlife.
